The Treasure State Still Has Treasure — It’s Time to Use It

Montana is called the Treasure State for a reason. God gave this state timber, minerals, oil, gas, good land, and hardworking people. And, for generations, Montanans used those resources to build towns, support schools, raise families, and create good lives. But things have changed.

Montana still has timber, coal, oil, gas, gold, silver, copper, palladium, platinum, talc, and critical minerals our country needs. These are resources that can once again create good-paying jobs, strong local businesses, and real opportunities for our kids and grandkids.

When our young folks can build careers in industries such as mining, logging, and oil and gas, they can buy homes in their twenties. They can raise families. They can save money. And they can retire with dignity and security. That's how generational wealth is built — not by government handouts, but by honest work tied to industry.

Don't get me wrong, we need service jobs. Good people work those every day. But our kids should not be stuck in an economy where the main options are washing dishes, cleaning rooms, pouring drinks, or serving wealthy people who bought up the towns their grandparents built. That is not the Montana most of us want.

But locking everything up is not conservation either, and delaying every project for years is not progress. Allowing outside interests to treat our loggers, miners, drillers, ranchers, and builders as enemies is not helping Montana families; it's degrading the story of how Montana was settled.

We need to make it easier to responsibly harvest timber, mine minerals, produce energy, and build things here at home. We need to manage our forests instead of letting them burn. We need to make sure the money made from Montana resources stays here — in Montana paychecks, Montana businesses, Montana schools, and Montana communities.

Our people still know how to work. We just need a strong legislature and strong courts to encourage private enterprise rather than government expansion. The Treasure State still has treasure. It is time to use it.
